Saturday *report*
I'm a little late on posting my report but dad and I fished from the bank Saturday. I caught 17 (limit is 15) with 2 of them being throw backs. All fish were caught in 4 to 6 ft of water with a kiptail jig or itty bitty bobby garlands under a float. Dad ended up catching 4 along with probably 30 plus smaller bluegills. They were probably a 50/50 mix of males and females. It looks like the males are getting a little color to them. It was a fun day to be on the water and hopefully we can catch them again tomorrow. I only got a quick pic of my stringer before we filleted them. I forgot to add the fish were 10 1/2 to 13 inches long so no big pigs caught but still fun.

those are really nice fish by my standards! can you elaborate on your kiptail jigs, what weight and color, I tie my own and fish them a lot.

Those I caught on 1/32 oz with #8 hook... But I use 1/48 oz and 1/64 oz too (all #8 sickle hook). I tie them with very little hair to give them a low profile... Most used colors are white, gray, chart, and olive. It's just a really simple thread neck. I have a lot of chenille and hackle and have tied some really good looking jigs but the really simple thread necks catch a lot more fish IMO.

Yes I love crappie nibbles... I tip all my jigs with them (might not need to but I do). Another thing I do is make one nibble into 3 or 4 small round balls and sit them in front of a fan for a few minutes to dry out. I think this keeps it looking more natural since the nibbles are so big compared to the little jig. I do keep some bigger for when I cast the larger Bobby garlands.

I agree with you crappie man. Plain jig with thread wrapping does a great job. Also I prefer no eyes on the jig. Some guys will not buy them with out eyes. I find the solid color on the small 1/32 and 1/64 need all the color and no hokas pokas. How do you spell hokas pokas?
