Default Wondering if this problem was fixed?

I bought a Humminbird 899ci HD SI and did the exchange for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T. It has been bad weather this week so I have been reading and trying to learn everything I can this week about my Humminbird unit. I did use my sonar last week some and was real impressed with it. I was using the 455 khz setting and have not tried the 800 khz as of this time. The question I am asking is has the whiteout problem been fixed by now as all the information that I have read was back in 2014 and was it all the Humminbird units. I am hoping that my new unit will not have this problem as I have just bought it and updated the units software. If it does do I have to send everything back to Humminbird including taking the transducer back off of boat and about how long will my unit have to be gone to fix the problem. Paranoia about my new sonar now. Don't know when I will get back on water to test and see if my unit has this problem has anyone had this problem lately? Thanks for all your help about this in advance.

It's unlikely your unit has set on a shelf so long that it was one of the washout affected units ...

Test your unit with the "Imaging Frequency" set to 800kHz ... If the SI image requires lowering the SI Sensitivity all the way to 1 and it's still too bright ... then you would need to call HB ...

HB would only require the head unit ... And turn around is usually 7-10 days ...
    -----

To determine when your specific unit was manufactured ... :

The first 2 digits in the serial number is the year ...
The next 2 digits are month ...
The next 2 digits are the day ...

Well looks like mine is a older model that was let on the shelf first 2 digits 14 second 2 digits 05 and next 2 digits 14. So by that it was made in 05/14/2014. Thanks very much Rickie. Right now we are having a whole lot of rain and flooding in our county. Maybe next week it will slack up enough to get out on the lake when the water gets back down some and give it a try to see if I have to send it to Humminbird.

I must be the unluckiest person in the world my new Humminbird 899ci HD SI unit was bought 1/31/2016 and was made in 05/14/2014. I should have known something like this when I had to update the unit from 6.900 to 7.650. By reading and looking at the dates of the posts mine was made about this time frame when the units were having trouble. Well the only way I will be able to know for sure is to just try it and see if it will works on 800 khz.

Never know ... You could be the "luckiest" person in the world and the washout issue not be present ...

Like you said ... Try it on 800kHz and see ...

Size: 28.1 KBRickie I took the boat out on the lake this morning and tried the 800 khz. and this is the pictures I took. Looks like I will be needing to send it back to Humminbird. Do I just call and tell them at the same number that I exchanged my transducer? What will I need in advance just the serial# and just what do I need to tell them or will they know without very much explanation?

I bought one of the very 1st 899's in my area, and mine has had the "800 KHz Fix" done to it.
Send me or Rickie a PM for THE person to contact @ HB who will take care of this for you...

Have your serial number handy when you call ...

They will cross check it with their database to verify it was manufactured in that time frame when the issue was identified ...
