Just enough weight to keep them close to straight down. Maybe 15 degrees off straight down. I used 3 oz with cranks a coupe years ago at 1.5 mph. Double rigged Jigs maybe 1 1/2 oz if I remember right.

I have searched and found some info on this. Have read the article on Magnolia Crappie Club Site. Just wanted to get some "fresh" ideas on what weights you guys are using and how you tie them up. Gonna give it a try this year and gonna tie me some before long.

Thanks.. I read 2 oz will work at 1.0 -1.2... Wondering if most rig em like capps and coleman or weight on the bottom of rig?
I've done both but favor the Kentucky. No real difference in the catch
3oz in the middle for me with two 1/4oz road runner type jigs. I power troll all the time. You'll need a stiff rod for the weight. Very productive way to fish right after the spawn until crank bait time. I know guys that do it full time tho. .8-1 works best for me, but you can either slow it down to .2-3 or speed it up from there. At 1mph, your line will be at an approx. 45% angle. Your weight depth will be at 2/3rds of the line out at that angle.![]()

The chart above is for cranks, but works well power trolling. The angle of the line is the key. More depth with less angle.
I just put em out, and copy the rods that are catching fish with the rest of the rods.
