I've been three times this week and pulled 3 fat limits each time. Battling some stout wind too. Fish can be caught from a foot of water to 30 foot. I prefer longlining the big females that are staged. Weather permitting the bulk of the fish will spawn on next moon. Darker colors are still the best. Fish are moving a lot so you have should too.

Buddy and I fished Talquin yesterday afternoon, or rather we tried to fish. Wind blew us off the water. This morning conditions a little better but the fish had lockjaw. Saw maybe 25boats fishing the pads in various creeks, but didn't see anyone putting any in the box. By 8:00 boats started running all over the place trying to find them. We quit at 11:30 and boats were still scurrying around looking. Back at LTL we saw one boat with maybe 4 or 5 and that was it. Hope someone eventually found them. We got only 2.
Update Well, we didn't get them, but a neighbor brought in a nice mess of 14 and provided us with a good mess for a fish fry tomorrow. YESH!
"Catchin" picked up today but the bite seemed to be early in the day. At least for us it was pretty much over after couple of hours. although we stay out until about 1pm. One guy cleaning fish got about 15 and his bite was all early. kFolks using the cleaning station at LTL. We got several 'shorts' gut only 3 keepers. It got hot out there even with the wind blowing a llittle.

fishwalton,
Any tibs you're willing to share on location, bait, and method? Are you using jigs or live bait?
Thanks
My wife and I fished there 3/15,16,17. Managed to bring one keeper back to Kentucky. Didn't see anyone doing much better. Fished our home lake (Cumberland) yesterday. Caught more in three hours than the three days we were there.
talquin is a nice lake with very nice folks. We just had fisherman's luck on the first visit. We'll appreciate the next vacation there I bet.
