Hi All, Planning on fishing Lake Talquin next week. Never fished it before and was wondering what I could expect as far as what types of areas to look for and what to use. Thanks in advance for everyone's help......Kentucky Bob
I might be their too hope they are biting
They are heading toward the lilly pads.......should be great time to be fishing.

Every day you do not fish will be one day less you have to fish
Bite is great and the fish are very fat. Most of the big females aren't quite ready to lay. Some males can already be caught in the spawning areas. Fish are in a transition and can be caught at many depths. I suggest longlining still for the best quality fish. Bring your shallow stuff too. Like hooker said they headed shallow. Your timing is perfect and looks like the weather will be nice too. Supposed to have 80. Degree days all next week.
Here are some pics from the past 2 days. Longlining areas of water from 10-18 ft deep with almost any color jig is working now. Darker colors with chartreuse tails worked best for us. Water temps were up to 62 on Saturday. Won't be long before those big girls head to the pads in the creeks.
