Default Hickory report Sat and Sun

Fished all weekend about half striper and half crappie. Bites were very hard to come by. Water still very muddy but warming up. Saw some water in low 50's yesterday. One 24 inch striper Sat on live bait. Pulled jigs and crank baits for crappie, but nothing. One nice guy gave us 10 he did not want to clean he caught right on the bottom in brush in 25 foot of water. He said they were so tight to the cover he was loosing 4 or 5 jigs to every crappie he caught. I had a boat full of friends and could not afford to fish brush with all of them. Still holding deep and tight to brush for some reason. Did not mark hardly any in the open water. From the bellies full of eggs and the water temp rising, they should be picking up soon I hope.

I fished Hickory Monday and Tuesday with about the same results,The water is still a bit stained and water temp ran from 46 to 52,Out of a total of 16 crappie caught for both days 8 were keepers running between 9 to 11 inches.Crappie have been slow all winter but I have done worse, Fished docks, brush and creeks using jigs and minnows,Most of what I did catch were in 11/12 feet holding about 5 feet down.Better days ahead
