Would love to hear some stories from that time.. is there a thread for that? If not there should be. I'm a year younger than your youngest son. But I love to hear the stories about past fishing experiences. . I know it's a different era now, with all the gadgets and such. Back then it was true wit, no $5, 000 fish finders and all the electronic mess.

We launched the 12' boat under the old hwy 304 bridge into Hurricane creek and headed toward the lake. Went about 100 yds past the bridge a dropped our lines about 5' deep. Floats started going under, all we were catching were 9 1/2 to 9 3/4" fish. Moved down about another 100 yards and found 40 10 1/2 to 12" fish. Paddled back to the bridge and went home. Wife wanted to know why we were home so early.
I spent 4 hours at Elbow creek and watched a little at the spillway. I didn't catch any and didn't see any caught.

You all are putting a damper on a few of us Mo. guys coming down to butla first week of April. Guess if it is not nice to us we can always go a little farther down the road to one of the other lakes.![]()
