Fellas, if you get up tomorrow and your britches is too short, you can blame it on this thread! There's shor been some leg-pulling going on!! Make no mistake about it, Butla has some quality fish, if you catch the water rather stable and fair clarity. On October 31st last year I caught it just right and caught a nice mess of thick quality fish. The largest was 15 1/2" and weighed 2 lbs. Went back the next day, they had pulled the plug for the winter drawdown, and I got skunked! Those fish were thicker than any I had caught in Sardis or Enid. Take a look back at the weights of the Sept. 25th FJ Championship on Butla last year. Compare them to the weights on tournaments on the other Big 3! Rees Guide, I think, put the weights of all the Big 4 last year, and Butla had the highest weight. But Yes, she will humble you and break your heart, but I ain't giving up on her! Myself, cane, cray and SlapLapper will keep an eye out on her!

Lol, not bothering me armyman I'm not very sensitive. I know butla has the fish and it's a difficult lake to find em. One of the appeals to me, plus don't have to wait in line to launch a boat. I started this thread to help out any of the guys and gals who are wondering what's going on due to the unseasonably warm weather. I remember not long ago before I started my own business and money was tight that a fishing trip was a luxury and back then my ole heart could be easily broken if I didn't catch a fish.

New to the site so it will take some getting used to. I remember growing up in Grenada and when my daddy had to work and we couldn't be on the lake my grandma would carry me and my brother out to the spillway or the sand pit to fish. And the old timers back then we're so happy to help anybody and everybody out. I'm just paying back the favors that we're so genoursly given to me.

Adcarson79 if you ever want a report PM me. I have eyes from Reelfoot all the way down to Grenada and even talking with some old boys over in Arkansas now. Atleast you can dodge the comedy hour... LOL

I used to go to Butla because it's closer to me, one day I decided to go ahead and drive the extra 20-30 minutes to Sardis and I don't think I've been back to Butla since. I'm just not good enough to find em consistently on Butla I guess. I enjoy the sport but I also enjoy eating crappie and that's hard to do when you don't catch any, way easier to find and catch them on Sardis. I'll give Butla a try again one day I'm sure but I only get to fish a handful of times a year so I try to go where I feel like I have a better chance at catching fish.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

I agree with you, I know this a little different then helping a few guys out here and there. There are tons of people who see these reports. I refuse to do all the hard work just to give the info away, but at the same time I don't want people wasting there time either. If (big if) I give a good report it will be after myself and my family's and friends freezers are full. I'm not here to ruin anybody's fishing and crowd out a lake. I just try to help out a little with reporting not so good fishing. I realize we live in an entitled, selfish, self centered society now, but it that spills over into fishing and hunting then we're doomed...

It's tough that's for sure, I fish Sardis a good bit also.

Yes we are. A lot of it goes back to some of the nonsensical posts from a couple of years ago. But I have been fishing Butla since 76 and it is tough. When it's on it is really on and when it's off it is really off. And for me it's off way more than on. But like someone else said I fish it for the challenge. In the last 2 years I figured it up, I had 6 bad trips with 3 or less fish for every trip I had 7 or more. But every time I learn something new and keeps my old brain studying. I don't keep many fish and just to say I caught a limit means very little to me. One thing I have learned, if you don't go your not going to catch anything. And if you catch it it like I have a few times over the years it will ruin you for the other lakes.

I could give some good reports, but they would be old something like 25 to 27 years old. We fished Butla when the boys were in school. Now they are 42 and 38.
