That feather is called a Peacock Sword! SO it is Peacock, just not the big eye ones.

Thanks Skip. I ordered a few supplies from Crazy Angler. I picked up chenille, flash, thread, and a finishing whip. What size shank in a 1/16th to buy. I like a short shank but not a small hook for a smaller jig. Also where is a good place to buy painted jig heads. I don't want to mess with painting yet.

I like #4 for 1/16oz. You can probably get you jigs for someone on the forum or ebay.

Try the powder paint, so easy and so many colors. It's a lot easier to buy unpainted jig heads by the bulk and make them any color you like.

Yes #4 is probably best, but I do also tie a lot of 1/16 with a #6 Sickle hook. Especially for the Gray Ghost style jig. Just as an FYI I use a #4 all the way to and including a 1/4 Oz head. Some jump to a #2 on 1/8 or 1/4, but I do not even though I have some #2's. One example is the Mississippi guys like bit hooks so they love that #2 Sickle, but for me it's a little over kill and I don't like the extra shank length, but that's a personal thing with me. I like the body shorter than you tie on a #2.

Example the other way is the original Gray Ghost used a #8 regular bend hook on a 1/16 Head. So it takes all kinds and you would be surprised how many still like a little hook!

    I like a little hook... #8's and #6's mostly but if throwing a Bobby Garland I'll use a #4

Skip this is what I want to tie. It is either a bullet or arrow head. I like a short shank and the jig heads I have bought have been too long for my preference. As soon as I figue it out I will start buying jig heads in bulk. I am also looking at trying my hand at powder coating. I have looked on you tube and saw how easy it is to make a fluid bed. Any hints on what is the best way to build one would be appreciated.

Can't really tell from pic if those have a tail on the jig or not interesting... Did you tye those? I found a fluid bed annoying just because I only had one and changing colors was aggravating... I just shake up the jar after each jig to keep it airy and then dip them... But if you had a cup for each color it would probably be more enjoyable lol

They don't have a tail except 2 pieces of flash. No an old man who passed away did. He swore less was more with a jig for finicky fish. He told me around here they eat a lot of bugs and bugs don't have big tails. They catch fish when other jigs won't. The jig is balanced and hangs perfect with a clip when floated with a bobber.
