    Default Harris 2/17/2016

We hit Harris this morning. Beautiful day on the water. It got a little windy here and there but we managed 21 Crappie and around 20 big Perch. All caught on homemade C&C and Kentucky style rigs in 35 FOW right near the bottom. I think there is coming a day when we will all be Perch fishing because they sure seem to be taking over. The big ones are fun to catch but I'd rather catch Crappie. Both eat good though. Water was 44-48. Crappie were 10-13" and we had Perch up to 13".
A bad day fishing is still better than almost anything!!

Nice report. Glad to see the crappie are interested in eating again. Last weekend was one of the toughest I've had on Harris is a long time.

Good trip. The perch are a problem in many lakes.

Thanks for the report. It can be almost impossible to fish for crappie on Hickory with minnows for the perch. Wouldn't be so bad if they were 11 or 12 inches, but you get tons of 6 or 7 inchers.

I wonder if the striper in Jordan have an impact on the white perch population.

I have heard that they will eat them, but are a little cautious because of the top fin. I have read if the perch is backwards and they fan the top fin out, they can get caught in their mouth or throat. I have also heard of people using them for bait for stripers by first cutting off the top fin. Wish the ones in Hickory would develop a taste for the little critters. lol.
