finally got to get back on the water today, haven't been able to go in a while and today's forecast had me anxious all week....boy did the weather man get it wrong (I'll get back to that later). Got to the ramp early only to find a bass tournament had the lot full ...dropped the boat in and immediately noticed a flock of birds working a spot no to far from the ramp. To me that meant white perch and an opportunity to not get skunked, so we putted over and put three in the boat real quick in 35' of water, then the wife pulled a crappie. It was a skinny 9" so back in the water he went....but he curled up with his mouth wide open and didn't swim so I grabbed him, ran some water over his gills kind of sloshing him around but it didnt do any good..he had the bends, she caught him on the bottom and reeled him to fast I reckon so in the cooler he went. we caught three more 10" crappie so I thought for sure my "spot" would hold some bigger fish.....wrong...we hit a couple other "spots" with no luck and the wife suggested we go back to where started. I told her that school of perch were long gone and crappie were probably just cruising under them lookin for an easy meal...we have caught some mixed in with the perch before, but what the heck...so back we went and of course the perch were gone but low and behold if I didnt find a new brush pile that gave up a a few 11"rs.....now that weather man, mid 60s with winds SW 3-6 mph and overcast was the forecast....we froze our butt off, got blowed all over the place and I cleaned fish in the rain
