Private property is private property. You guys wouldn't support trespassing in a hunting context, so I am always shocked when I read reactions to the exercise of property owner rights.

They may have a reason of some sort, don't know. I used to let hunters come out during the rabbit and squirrel seasons to hunt regular in the woods here, also fish along the river. Then they started dropping trash everywhere and offload four boxes of shells in a short period of time. I did ask them to pick up their trash, and mentioned it wasn't necessary to offload an AR around here. When a couple of dudes showed up one time off the edge of the driveway I have dressed in their high dollar camo clothes, I told them to behave themselves. They called me a tree hugger. Told those suburban city boys to get out - I can whistle for my dogs and jack my 30-30 out in a heartbeat.
Since then, my property has been registered as a national wildlife refuge.

Well Mr mantle I didn't start this trend to start no argument I was just asking one question was it true about orange grove I understand land owners views and respect there property but at the same time how can a property owners digs a canal and own water that comes from nature look like to me we as common folks should have a right to that water for the simple fact that water didn't just come on that property the source of that water was tamper with I'm just saying with respect to the land owners they are wrong for there actions me personally I can deal with trash on my property but if a oil well are gas well breaks there's a big problem more than a little trash on a bank I'm just say no disrespect and I'm not trying to start a argument I was just was asking a question

My understanding is they can block as long as they own land on both sides of the waterway. If they only own land on one side then what they are doing is illegal (or so I've been told).
Also they have to give all land owners access to property that may be behind the "gates" they install, can't impede other land owners.
It sounds crazy when you think if "navigable waters", but many of these areas were land and the canals are simply rights of way for oil/gas/etc. If you had a pipeline go through your land, you probably wouldnt want the general public on it deer hunting. Its pretty much the same thing.
This isnt the same as what is happening on some of the river lakes on the Ouachita. Many of these lakes were always navigable even at pool stage. The landowners blocked access by putting culverts in them, which makes it impossible to get in with a boat now and the landowners now have their own private lakes which are property of the state of Louisiana. Its criminal if you think about it.
There's a article on Louisiana sportsman website stating it's not true about Orange Grove
Enjoy and praise God for today! Tomorrow is not promised!! Every Good thing is time limited. LA still is the Sportsman's paradise. In n. MS around the reservoirs we were almost land locked on the Corps. Lakes due to boat ramps way way up on Dry Terra!!
