That's some sad news to Linda and I and a whole bunch more. I guess I'll have to pull up to the North Shore and fish with JR. At least I don't think they can gate natural rivers, but then, who knows. A very sad day for Terrebonne Parrish fisherman.

These are oilfield canals which were cut through private property, not natural streams. Some of these canals are 50 years old or older and have been used by the public since. Since these canals were dug on private lands the public doesn't have a chance as the laws are stacked against them. Only the passage of laws to prevent this would stop this. But as it stands we all know the rich land owners always win. What they will probably do is continue to lease the land to hunters and trappers and if you want to fish you'll have to buy a permit. More money to the greedy. That is what happened to Lake Theriot or so I heard. The land owner gated the canal to get into the lake and then tried to sell blinds for $1000. Well that fell flat on it's face, then some guide got use of the lake to take customers but that didn't work out either. Although the land owner had the rights to the entrance to the lake, the majority of the lake was owned by someone else. That 90 percent portion ended up belonging to Apache which made a deal with the Dularge Hunting Club to manage it since it is next to hunting club land and has the only other opening to the lake. Now we have to join the club to be able to fish 90% of the lake.
