Know there's tons of em out there. Any must have features? Any to stay away from? Not looking for the most expensive, just best buy for the money.

Download an app for your phone. They work great. Lots of them out there for a few bucks on up.

Yep, will definitely try that Bill. Technology is probably a lot better now than what I tried downloaded about 5 years ago.. It got me within about 30-40 feet when I checked it on a visible object, course I didn't have good fishfinder then either.

Tried to do the motionx but couldn't do it. My phone is too old to run the ios 8.0 operating system required. Guess that means I'm a full fledged geezer.

Garmin! Etrex! Phone apps are fine, but you can't read 'em in the sunlight.

Got a Lowrance H2O I don't need any more. It was a good unit.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

They should have some similar app that will work with your operating system.

Your service provider should have an updated phone for you on the cheap. A new phone is probably less than a handheld GPS devise and it'll multitask.

    X2 on the Garmins tho.

If you're taking an ATV, you can hook up the power cord on your fish finder and use it. You don't have to run the sonar stuff, just the power cord. If need be, you can set the sonar to Stop Sonar and turn that feature off until you put it back on the boat.
