The loop knot is fine. I'd go to 6lb for single pole jiggin' though.

I've noticed in a few videos where guys are rigging single jigs in shallow water, they are tying their jigs with a loop knot. I assume this helps the jig hang naturally???? What are your preferred knots?
Also curious on line size, we used 10# yellow Mr, Crappie line last year, considering down sizing. Any thoughts.

Not sure what kinda fesh yall catch there but there is no way I would fish with less than 10lb mono on the Big Four here. As far as the knot, I like something will pull tight on the jig head, I like the jig at 90 degrees compared to the line but thats just me. (Bait fish dont swim around with their heads sticking straight up and tails straight down.)

Y'all have all those hawgs at 'Nader. All we have over at Eagle is babies.
Non-slip loop knot you can do a search for it. Easy to tie and holds up good. You will need to check how your jighead with jig body sits in the water. I large glass jar works great. It needs to set close to 90 degrees. Like Rees guide said baitfish don't swim with their head straight up. If your jig body combination doesn't sit close to 90 with a loop then you will have to tie some type of cinch knot and set line 90 degrees to jig like Rees said. And like he said in a lot of shallow brush or stumps your gonna need bigger line.
2-4# mono
Orvis (Becker) knot
That's for casting. I don't do any trolling.
I use 6 lb leader with double hooks on my trolling rigs clipped to either 10 or 12 lb line. Leaders are in hi viz yellow and clear flourescent. Jigging, always 10 lb.
12 LB. main line high vis cabela's pro line with stren 10 lb fluorocarbon minnow rigs . when multipole fishing . 8lb. fluorocarbon jigging .
Eagle has alot of those mean dang Specks. A 2 lb Speck feels like a 4 pound bass pulling
