1/32oz marabou Roadrunner ... tail hair trimmed to half way between the hook bend and the longest hairs (as they come in the package).

Second to that would be the "No Name Lure" : no name lure, Fujita, John Fujita

Word of caution on the No Name Lure : leader is 2# test ... connecting thread is 2# test cat gut ... hooks are tiny & lure is tiny, so it's easy for very small fish to inhale ... take extreme caution when removing hooks from fish, whether caught deep or in lips, because the leader & connecting gut are easily broken.

I got one thing for you...

Take this jig in 1 3/4" size in black comet color.

Luck-E-Strike Swimmin' Minnow | Bass Pro Shops: The Best Hunting, Fishing, Camping & Outdoor Gear

Put it on a plain 1/16oz round head jig....and tip it with a chromaglow chartreuse nibble. Dry out the nibbles just enough they are just barely firm,I usually just lay out a few beside me while I'm fishing and keep tabs on them.If they start to get too dry I move them back in the bottle. You will figure it out.

Cast and retrieve it over "fishy" spots to just skim over the top of it,whether it be grass beds, brush, rock ,riprap, flats, points, anywhere fish are congregated. during the spawn fish it nearly dragging it on the bottom through beds on spawning banks.

Use light spinning tackle and 6lb line and a good casting spinning reel.

That's just scratchin' the surface of what you need to do....but your gonna catch some fish on this...and if you fish in good places and figure out the technique your gonna catch a lot of fish

Size: 33.2 KBany curly tail helps slow the fall . I use the count down method till I find what depth they are holding . I was told to fish meal worms on a carolina rig and was wondering how this would do in stumps ,ect . The guy told me to just reel slow like worm fishing for bass . As far as artificial many will tell you that redear, shellcracker, mongrel, strawberry bream (all same fish, southerners have many names )will not bite artificials . They are using a jig to heavy . the fall rate is more important than color ! jmo

1/16 oz or 1/32 oz ball head jigs with #4, 6, or 8 hook depending on grub body length.

If fishing shallow - 1/32; if fishing deeper - 1/16.
Curl tails are okay, but note the straight thin tails and prong tails in the pictures. With those tails you can move the lure ever so slowly and the tail quiver gets everything that swims excited.

4 or 6# test more than adequate to allow best lure action and less line bow. Mono is fine.

Light action rod a must !

Fan cast around the boat or from shore and move until you find concentrations - lures are the best search baits on the planet.

Slow with rod twitches or pauses in the retrieve can not be emphasized enough!

The above advice is for ages 5 years and older. Ask my six grandkids !

Give these a try as they work well on panfish.

I've had good success on chartreuse Trout Magnets. The Crappie Magnets (which are bigger) didn't produce big numbers due to the size (1/32-1/16 oz jig head) while I use the 1/64-1/32 oz jigs for the trouts. Bright colors work, as well as Sho-Nuff, Chartreuse w/ black, Charteuse w/ orange, white, and pink.

Other than those, I sometimes break out the Northland Tackle 1/64 oz small fry fluke tails or the Slurpies tubes.

tiny works best it seems to me ....we use 1/64 number 8 jigheads and assorted plastics that are around one inch
and you can save a little cash by using the cheap brand of nibbles from walmart instead of real gulp brand crappie nibbles
bream are real good at stealing bait off the tips of hooks as I am sure you are well aware of
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
