    What he said ^^^ and yes it is supposed to be down in water when in use. It is about as accurate as wetting your finger and holding it up to gauge your speed.

    If your unit has GPS ... It shouldn't need the speed accessory ...

    Which unit do you have ... ??

    Pitot tube for speedo, pretty useless especially if you have GPS!
