The crappie this year seem to be deeper-bodied and wider-bodied than usual. The slab on the right is a pretty good example. There was another, bigger one that hit right after I got this one, but I did the accidental quick release before I got ahold of her. Wishing y'all a Merry Christmas.

Those are some nice crappie
Nice catch pops. I'm not sure what is more impressive the crappie or that you now know how to take pictures and post them on the site.On both accounts though you sure make me proud.

I noted much the same phenomenon on another thread Eric but nobody else jumped in so I guess we are the only ones catching fatter than usual crappie of late. 12" fish a year ago weighed a pound or a little less and this year weigh up to 1.25 lbs. - I keep a digital scale on my fish cleaning table cause I like to know rather than guess how big a good fish really is. Hopefully water levels will recede soon and I can measure a few more slabs!
Only got one big one yesterday, a 13 1/2 pot-bellied black. Was going to take the grandkids, but they got freebies at Elevation Station and played with their buddies. Today we're going to go after crappie and cats.
