I started fishing this fall after the Labor Day weekend at Oconee. The water temperature was in the high 80's. On 9-30 I managed to keep 30 fish with the largest being 1lb 6ozs.
The next time I was able to get to the lake it was on 10-16. I managed to keep 25 with the largest being 1lb 7ozs
And then on the 31st I kept 29 and the large fish was 1lb 13ozs.
On my birthday, November 5th, I kept 24. Large fish 1lb 9ozs.
For the first time ever I fished the Hill in the fall. Quick came with me and helped me put some slabs in the boat. On the 19th we boated 17, and on the 24th we had 29. Big fish were 1lb 14ozs and 1lb 15ozs.
On the 28th we headed to the Hill again knowing we were going to tear them up. At 10:00 we only had 5 in the live well. We loaded up the boat and took off to Oconee. We ended the day with 48 and the largest being 1lb 14ozs.
Quick fished one more time with me on the 29th, We boated 49 with Quick boating a 2lb 2ozs fish. That has been the only 2lb fish in my boat this fall.
On 12-3 I had the pleasure of fishing with Nixon. He had never fished Oconee and I told him to come over and we would go. We ended the day with 46 and the largest being 1lb 8ozs.
The crime dog joined me on 12-6 and 12-8 to Oconee. He managed to sniff out 27 the first day and 30 on the 8th. The large fish between the 2 days was 1lb 12ozs.
Went by myself on the 9th. Brought home 30 with the large fish being 1lb 10ozs.
I failed to mention that I attended the Talquin Slab fest for the first time. The fishing was off, but when you surround yourself with a group of great people, the fishing doesn't matter. However I did manage a couple of good fish. Each one weighed 1lb 12ozs.
All the fish pictured were taken with jigs tipped with minnows using the Spida-rollin method. The rack that I hung the fish on I made in my off time over the summer. Each row is spaced 12 inches apart to give a perspective of the fish that were caught. Good luck to all for the remainder of the fall and hope to see ya'll out there on the water.
The pic below is the smallest crappie I think I have ever caught. LOL. Could someone rotate that pic for me?
