Lake weiss
Anyone happen to have current water conditions for lake Weiss and any tips or pointers on where to fish. Haven't fish there since last fall thinking about trying my luck this week before thanksgiving. Any info will be appreciated.

Maybe I should change my crappie member name that was given to me when I was 2 by my cousin to get more reports. Here is the story, my cousin being the age of 4 could not pronounce my name Terry so he called me tetoe and has stuck with me since then. I'm not looking for ur fishing spots just general info on the transition and of the movement of crappie this time of year, in addition I don't see a lot of reports on crappie.com about lake Weiss

tetoe,
Sorry, I've never fished Weiss or I'd help.
Good luck!

I can tell you that most all the Coosa River lakes (Weiss, Neely Henry, Logan Martin especially) have had water being pulled through them relentlessly for the past week or so. Alabama Power was already in the process of bringing the lakes down to winter pool levels before we had all the rain last week, so for the past few days the flood gates have been wide open on the afore mentioned lakes. The water has been not only swift but moderately stained to muddy in most places. If you know much about crappie fishing on the Coosa, then you know those are not very favorable conditions, but maybe you will get lucky. Alabama power looks to at least be planing to slow down some on the current starting Wednesday (but those schedules change all the time) so just keep an eye on the Alabama Power Shoreline site for current conditions. Good Luck!

Never have fished over their but I would look for eddy's to fish maybe if you can find some trees that breaking the current maybe check out bridge pilings to fish around. Check out the edges of creek channels if not too swift. That's what I would try. Also dark colors in stained water .also would probably fish super slow retrieves don't get in a hurry!

I agree with Slabprowler. Muddy water can make things very difficult, but I look at current as an advantage. Crappie will look to get out of the current, but make use of it to ambush baitfish. Current tends to cause the Crappie to stack in eddy's. While a stump or log will hold a fish or two, a good back eddy on a wing dam or rock pile will sometimes hold hundreds of fish. Good luck!

Amen, when you have the type of current we are experiencing on the Coosa chain it makes for real challenging crappie fishing. Logan Marin, has had it's share of strong currents and it has had a direct affect on the crappie fishing. Let's just hope the generation schedule will be kind to us SOON

Fished several hours Tuesday catching 14 with 6 of those being 10" to 13" on jigs, overall not a bad day. Fish caught from docks near the channel. Generation must have slowed down, river still had some current and some what stained but not as much as I anticipated. Thanks for the replies. The information helped me out tremendously.
