Default Houston, we have a problem......

I fish at day break and pick up 20-50 feesh . I go back in the afternoons and I'm catching 4-8 fish ???? What up? They are not stayn in one spot or biting in the afternoons. I'm marking schools of fish with my sidescan near the structures averaging 100-500 count in my opinion. Just from looking at the school size. I then throw a marker on them and set up my trolling motor and 360. The fish are moving around in a hundred ft circle moving in and out of my screen. Am I spooking the fish with my sonar or marker bouy. I usually catch one to two fish then they start moving around a lot . I'm confused on this one, also the water temps are still 76. Just maybe the higher water temps in the afternoon has them turned off.

An old man once showed me this a long time ago. He would catch one and tie a small bobber with enough line to reach the surface from the depth they were schooling and throw it back. Then just follow the school. On that particular day we was on a decent size private lake and the fish were going in a somewhat circle that covered maybe 3 acres. I think they were just schooling.....just being fish, chasing food, I don't know really, but they was going in a circle and we was following em and picking em off. lol

    BAMA S,

I've noticed this time of year the baitfish move up in the water column overnight and the Crappie follow. As the sun comes up the baitfish will move all the way down to the bottom. They basically just shut down until the baitfish move again. You may get a little activity the last half hour before dark, but that's it. This pattern seems to be more predominate the clearer the water is.
