the rod,line, lure and hook type all have a factor in it. And the techniques mentioned all help. You have to hand it to any fish that jumps to throw the lure, a born with it instinct for survival. Once in a while you just have to smile when they do it. Unless of course that fish was worth a $100,000 in some top level tournament.

Stick your rod tip in the water as deep as you can and wind the reel as hard as you can....be sure your drag is set right.

The drag is pretty loose when i troll and i tighten it up when the fish is hooked. Should i keep trolling when i get a bite or stall the motor?
