Thanks again ezfishn and Rickie. My new reply on the 859 waypoint editing post sums it up. Not feeling to well right now so I will talk to ya down the road...
ezfishn I am working on describing all my waypoints and creating specific groups and files on my individual units. I went to HBPC this morning and all my individual folders showed up but they were empty.
Oh well I needed to reorganize anyway. All the info is still on the units and cards in them.
Did you say HBPC organizes them automatically?
When you upload your SD card into HBPC, it will create a "SD_YYMMDD.GPX" file that contains your waypoints, tracks, routes, and any grouping that was created on the unit. You can open multiple files at same time. Once the data is uploaded into HBPC along with any other files(optional), you can create a Group by right-clicking on "Groups" and then edit that name to whatever you want to call it (ex. Lake Name). HBPC also allows sub-Groups so under each Group(Lake), you can create a sub-group (ex. Bow, Console, etc.). Once the Groups are created, you can move the applicable Nav data by copying and pasting into the newly named Group from the upper level "Waypoints" location. HBPC won't do any of the organization automatically.

I got ya. I thought you might know a magic auto button that moves it automatically when you upload via gps coor.
I am getting close to having all my waypoints labeled. I have been using snapshots and the map that is shown when you scroll on a waypoint to describe them. My system shows what it (the waypoint) is, how deep it is, general location and lake its on. For example ; BB17 SSW K meaning Big Brush pile in 17 feet of water at Sarge on the South side of the West causeway at Kaw Lake. When I am done I should be able to create files, groups, subgroups etc. at a glance. Terry

here is how I do it...
if I see something I want to mark I will snap shot it
export that snapshot/waypoint to a card
in hbpc I have groups for bodies of water
move the waypoint to the group
change the icon! a tree is a tree icon, etc
name the waypoint, eg deep tree
save local to the pc
save to card
delete all waypoints on the unit
import all waypoints from card
Thanks or the response matzilla ; great routine. I got behind the 8 ball because after editing on hbpc I didn't delete waypoints on the unit before importing from the card. Twice the points , twice the names, twice the confusion. Don't tell anybody I am that dumb though.
IceNitro, I do it about the same as Matzilla, except I want to change all my icons in Waypoint Management on my unit (tree, brush, etc). The reason I do that is so when I scroll over to the waypoint I still get the small thumbnail screen shot, if you change them in HBPC you loose the ability to do that.
When I get the thumbnail I then push "check" button. You will get a dropdown box that says "Chart Info" and "View Snapshot" scroll down to View Snapshot and push right arrow and it will open the SnapShot full screen when you made the waypoint.
You can just leave the camera icon and do the same thing but I like to know its a tree or brush before I stop (some days all the fish are in trees some days brush) so I don't waste as much time looking after I figurer that out.
Friend of mine's home lake is 12,900 acres and he has 3000 waypoints (all a Core Unit will hold) just on the upper end. He has a second card for the lower end.
It makes it real nice to be able to look at what he snap the waypoint on, rocks, tree, brush, and how deep it was at that time.
I wish I had understood the waypoint system better 6 years ago when I started with my 998.
