Default Looking for Lake D'arbonne tips

We are making a trip to Lake D'arbonne State Park next weekend to visit family. We aren't bringing a boat this time but I'm planning to rent a bateau from the park a couple days. Any suggestions on what and where to fish near the cabins? My 3 year old wants to fish so I'd like to at least put him on some bream. Thanks in advance.

Don't know a whole lot about bream fishing there but we do good in the channel when it gets colder. We have done good there close to the state park so hopefully you can get on some there.

They have a fishing pier at the park and you can probably catch some bream off it. There's also shallow cypress trees around the park that you can reach with a canoe and they ought to hold some bream too.

Thanks. I'd love to get on some sacs but I figured bream would be the easiest to find closeby. Last time I was there my brother caught about 50 bream and catfish off one of the piers but my lil boy loves going out in a boat so we will try paddling around in the mornings and evenings.

I only fish it once a year, but wish I could go more often. That place is full of stumps and I believe there's plenty of cover there near the park boat launch. Maybe he'll hook a couple of catfish while he's there and have a big fight on his hands. Good luck out there!

We will be there until Monday. Mainly fishing Sunday b/c of the game Saturday evening and plans with family. I'll let you know how we do.

I don't have a report but if I were you I would suggest putting in at state park go out to the channel and work your way back toward the main lake fishing tight to the timber on edge of the channel. Usually can pick up some black crappie off that timber doing this.
