    Default What kind of fish

I was trolling crank baits on ky lake yesterday not not having any luck .. I was on the main river ledge... after awhile I deceided to cross the river to the other side of the channel when I was about mid river 50 ft deep my humming bird 898 lit up over a large area with fish arches Big arches 1/2 to 3/4 inch long on the 898 screen most of the fish where hovering in the 30 to 45 foot depth.. I am curious WHAT SPEICES OF FISH DO YOU THINK I COULD HAVE BEEN MARKING ? I trolled thru them but my crank baits were only running about 15 ft deep and never caught anything

My section of the lake is not known for stripers but I know they are there... I know some guys that catch them on the main river ledges in the winter months.. Next week when I go I am going to try putting some bait down at the depth marking them at and try to catch one... figure I will try live shad on a couple poles and night crawlers on a couple and see what happens

It is common on the north end of KY Lake to see schools of Asian carp that are ACRES! Late in the afternoon they come to the top and it literally looks like you could walk across them. Luckily they are Bigheads rather than the silvers that jump. We saw the same thing a week ago south toward the Hwy 79 bridge but the carp were mixed with huge schools of gar.

What you saw on your 898 could have been any of several species. Lots of folks see catfish as strictly bottom feeders but we catch a bunch of them trolling cranks 10 feet deep in 25+ feet of water.
