Default Want to give pushing cranks a try.......

I have read a lot of the information on here and have somewhat of an idea of the gear needed. What I would like is a few pics of how you rig your setup for pushing (I live in Missouri now so I guess you have to Show Me.... bad joke I know.). I don't mind if its simply drawn out on paper with pencil or a pic of an actual setup. Would just like to have a good idea of how everything needs to be before I start buying weights, swivels, etc. Thanks in advance for the help.

First question is, do you have rod holders mounted on front of boat for spider rigging? What kind of rods are you planning on using?

Yes Cray...have two sets of spyderloks up front that I push minnows with. As for the poles I have a set of PST's and a set of Crappie Maxx that are a touch stiffer than the PST's. Both sets are 12ft. and have been told both would work for pushing. I am interested in the configuration for the crank and weight. Would like to see a pic of how people tie theirs up. Thanks

SCOTTV pours and assembles a 3 oz trolling weight. It is torpedo shaped with a swivel in each end. When he sells them he puts a 2 or 3 foot leader with snap on small end. You just attach your main line to front and a crank of your choosing on the leader. I have used all kinds of weights attached to the line in different ways and his set up works the best. Your poles and holders are perfect for pushing. I pushed today with my PST 12's. I run one just to the right and left of boat centerline then set the next 2 outboard of those 2 so they don't overlap.

The same speeds you pull with. No different.

So...when pushing cranks of the front of the boat, does a hooked fish ever run back under the boat and get in the trolling motor? Sounds like a problem waiting to happen...... Or do you only push cranks out to the side? Course, that sounds like you are pulling again? Just wondered.
