I agree , but just about every pond in Oregon has these in them .. Mine is a fairly new pond .. and is quarry hole of 18 acres and 40 feet deep at its deepest ... and stocked with bass ..... and they are hungry .... I also have been putting crawdads in along with some BG's ....
I see some good reasons in your pix for you not to take a chance on shocking yourself. Those your children?
Just buy one online, hek, they make them in a skoal can. Called a fish stunner, even have instructions on how to build them.

First I would keep that thing AWAY from any wet area. Some of those had neutral grounds and non polarized plugs on them. In other words if plugged in the wrong way the any metal you touch on the outside is HOT. and is an electrical shock just waiting to get you.
Like was said before ...Your grand kids want to keep you with them.
SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT BAIT FISH AND STOCKED A YEAR BEFORE ADDING BASS. BASS WILL EAT ANY PAN FISH

Make a few of these and they will catch minnows. They are better than any other trap that I have ever used. Just make sure it is legal to use them where you live.
