You done good Mr. Bruce. Congratulations! By the way, I am not a bass fisherman so I am not very knowledgeable about them. So, please don't laugh but what is the difference between largemouth bass and a Kentucky bass?

Me either.....I suspected it was but had to google it to decide......never caught one that color before and most were a lot smaller.....the biggest difference for me is the taste....I love largemouth but do not like the taste of the Kentucky....Didi likes them tho....

That is a Spotted bass, some people call them Kentucky bass. There are some in some lakes in La., but creeks and rivers usually have a larger population of them. Great fighters. We use to catch a lot of them on the upper Calcasieu River, and some of the smaller tributaries off it. A 2 1/2 pounder is a large one for La.

Nice catch Bruce. Next time I want to see a picture of one sautéed in a skillet - sounds good.
