Hopefully some fish will start successfully spawning in that river soon. Currently the fish are all hatchery raised fish. Maybe with more of them in there and the rock ramp at Lock and Dam 1 it'll happen.

There aren't any wild ones? Dang. I've caught a couple in Snow's Cut and in the Brunswick River speckled trout fishing. My grandaddy had some pictures of some huge ones (20-30lb) he used to catch in the river behind the golf course in Riegelwood when he was a young man. I guess it was in the 50's or 60's, before they got wiped out. I hate to say it buy I know more than a few people who catch them in shad nets and keep em. I'd like to keep one too, but every one counts. I can wait.

Based on the genetics work they are doing the ones they are shocking in the river they are mostly of hatchery origin. I want to say it is around 98% hatchery but can't remember the exact number. It is good to be seeing more larger fish in the river so hopefully it'll get back like the good old days of your grandaddy.

Yeah, I think that is when you gave us a few eels to try for the first time. I couldn't believe how fast they would hit those things. Then the next year we drug that poor ole eel around for 3 days and never could get one to bite it. LOL
