Had a similar problem. Extended the deck. Built two storage boxes, and a rod locker. Cut hole in headwall of bow, 8' rods fit in locker. Also put it in led strips in each compartment.
The beauty of it is you make to your specs. The rod locker lid opens in, this lessons the chance of rods going overboard.
Tinboats.net , lots of ideas on their.

They come with a tie down elastic cord that holds then in place. Pretty simple, but effective. I have the vertical mounts like Butch has on his boat, (I stole the idea from him) but I can't drive down the road with rods sticking 16 feet in the air. Some of our ramps have overhanging limbs.

Ray, all of my short rods goes into the rod storage locker. Any longer rods rest on top of the front deck and down across the top of my rod locker which runs down one side of the boat. Those rods are secured with rod saver straps. The verticle holders are for placing the rods where they will be used and out of the way when moving on the water.

That is how I use mine as well. Just saw several that stored them vertically and that works OK with 6 or 7 ft rods, but 12 or more feet sticking up makes me nervous going down the road.

I've got one of those plastic Tahoe rig portable live well in an old Jon boat. It works ok but you have take a bilge pump and fill it from lake and then use same pump to aerate it. I had intended on plumbing it in thru the transom but bought a new to me pro17.
