Thanks for that report bigjon. I've fished Claremore Lake a few times and I really like that place. Great and well maintained facilities, easy launch and great bank access. I think I'll give it a shot. I'd love some fresh bream.

American Horse is where its at. I fly fished a popper out there all day one day and caught over 100. About half of them keeper size.

Well, I hit Claremore Lake today with a friend. We went with ultra lights and beetle spins and fished the west side of the lake and after hitting 3-4 spots off the side of the road we got no hits. Several people were fishing that side of the lake and none of them were showing any results but we did see one guy dump a bass or a catfish into a basket. Drove all the way north on the west side of the lake that we could but no cigars. From what we could discern no one was catching much of anything from the bank or from the crappie dock.

After that we hit several spots on the east side of the lake and my bud did catch and release a very nice female black bass that ran around 4 pounds. Spent the rest of the afternoon driving around and looking at the lake and I have to confess that although I've been on the lake in my boat several times I had no idea of how large and pretty it is. No fish but the trip was great and as usual, the weathermen didn't come close to their forecast from yesterday.

    Perhaps later….
