Left at 5:00 AM Monday headed to Truman for day of vacation; about a two hour drive for me now. Headed east on 116 and car in my lane; speed limit of 60. Good thing road has great shoulders. Avoided the head on collision by about a foot, but dumb&^% side swiped my trailer. Took out wheel, wheel well, bent axle, and left rear brake light. Almost $1,400 damage to my trailer. Had to of missed my boat by inches. 20-something year old driver was distracted because he was texting!!! I have a great mechanic and I should be back on the water by Friday night though. Look out...crazy people out there!![]()

A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it
From an old movie I saw
That would be scary! Glad you're ok! Did you or the LEO take the young mans phone away and put it somewhere "safe"?
The fishing was so good I thought it was yesterday
Glad you're okay. But one horrible waste of a perfectly good vacation day!!
Some one was looking out for you, glad it was just the the tire and wheel.
Glad no one got hurt. There are a bunch of idiots on the road and it just seems to get worse. There are some days when I have to go some where that I can't wait to get home because of the idiots on the road. This morning when I went to town between 7:00 and 7:30 on a narrow 2 lane road I met a truck with a guy driving that had a red flag and was waving it out the window. Behind him was another truck that was pulling a new corn/soybean planter that stuck over the yellow line on one side and over the road edge on the other side. Guess he was to cheap to have it delivered and decided to try and have a wreck pulling it home. That is what semi's and flatbeds are far.
To be quite honest. The reason I'm selling my motorcycle is that exact reason. Texting kids and soccer moms....Oh and to buy more jigs and flies.
Glad you weren't hurt! I think that young dude would have had a knot on his head where it hit the steering wheel!
Man, that sucks but sure glad everyone is OK! by the looks of that wheel, he gave your trailer a pretty good shot. be sure to have your mechanic closely inspect the spring, shackle mounts and the trailer frame for square. I'm not saying there is for sure damage there, but a shot like that to a car wheel and there is almost always secondary damage. if that axle isn't pretty dang close to square, it will eat tires and not track as good. hope your back on the water soon!
