Fishing has picked up this week. Lots of crappie and catfish have been caught Monday and Tuesday. Hope you have some good luck if you go.

Old Town Lake--Reported by Big River Marine--Catfish and crappie are hitting on yo-yo's baited with minnows around the cypress trees. Crappie are hitting on minnows and jigs fished around the cypress trees. No report on bream. Fishing around a cypress tree where a crappie is will increase your chances of getting a bite. Fish 1 to 8 feet deep.

Ok. Here is the report. We had to GRIND!!! I heard they were ON before the latest cold front. Water temp was 63 wen we started and 68 wen we left. We were single poling trees and had to fish a 100 trees to catch one it seemed. But let me tell you. That THUMP feels soo good! It was still very exciting and fun because I had no idea "which" tree was going to be the tree! Used colors pink/chart, purple/chart, white/chart. Unable to tell which one they liked. Seems we would change a color and catch a fish and then that be it til changed color again. Left with 8 beautiful crappie and they were all around a pound a piece with one fish over a pound and a half! Lost a crappie at the boat that wasnt that big but was so black it didnt appear to even have specs!!! Gorgeous fish. Caught 1 bass. And was regularly getting hit by bream for all you bream fishermen out there. The yoyo' were like BEE's out there, was hard to find a tree that didnt have one hanging from it. Especially as we were leaving in the afternoon the yoyo fishermen came out of the wood works. Spoke with one nice local fellow that had a nice ice chest with a mixed bag of catfish and crappie. More catfish than crappie but they looked good too! Gorgeous lake. I will be back. If weather stabilizes it shud get HOTT!

Old Town is a fun lake to fish and there are some good ones in there. Did you happen to notice if the gates at the spillway were open?

BRM, just pulling your chain! I forgot to put in there that a fella needs to bring his own tree to have one to fish around!

LowePro, how was the crowd? Usually, this time of year, you can't find a parking place other than on the highway.
