    Default Moving Brush Piles

I have a question for y'all. What is your opinion on finding a brush pile that someone else put out and moving it somewhere else where you want it. Would/should you do this?

I ask because Chris and I spent some time building and placing some personal (not work related) brush piles and several of them are no long where we put them. I know that once the brush pile gets out into the lake, it is public property. But, is it ok to move them some where else?

I don't think it is right. Actually it burned me up when I found out about it! If someone is going to spend money and time putting out brush piles, I don't think someone should mess with it. Ok, done with my rant. What do y'all think?

I think once it is in the water, It could be considered "fair game" to fish. I wouldn't move it, but I'm sure others would. Just like fishing on a brush pile someone else put there. Once in the water, It doesn't make it their personal spot. My opinion.

I'd never move anyone's brush pile, but if I'm fishing a brush pile and someone says it's his and I have to leave, I probably wouldn't budge. It could be a brush pile he found as well and just wants to bully folks off. And in the event he did place it, it's in public water now and it's fair game. Anything I sunk is fair game for anyone as well, but to move it is just being a jerk and being too lazy to gather up some leftover Christmas trees or brush. Just driving in my neighborhood would yield a person all the brush they needed to make some piles. Besides, the guy that planted the brush likely knows that spot has potential to be a producer, why move it?
    Definitely a vinegar cleansing move.

Definitely not right to move it if someone put it there they went through a lot of trouble to have a place to fish. I have had people show me places before if I'm fishing it and they show up I move over. It's just a matter of respect.

I agree if it was put there by someone else fish it but don't move it or place markers on it. I have folks see me fish stuff and then take it over , mark it with jugs or styrofoam. If they take over something I put out yes then I will move it next trip they are not camped out on it. I also hate it when I build a stake bed that is working great and then some other fishermen wants to make it better and covers it up with brush or bamboo.
I had one brushpile that a guy kept marking with a jug and sat on it everyday. I cut the jug and next trip it was marked again. The guy found out I was cutting off markers and started mouthing . Since it was a public lake he could fish it because once it hit the water it was public property so leave my @#$ markers alone. I told him that once he left the jug and it became public property , I picked up trash . I just moved the brush pile and problem solved .

Once that brushpile sinks, you own the water around it for 50 yards in every direction. Anyone caught moving, fishing, motoring through, or even contemplating fishing said brush pile shall be electrocuted until they are dead!

Into todays society you never know what will set another person off. A brush pile steak beds or what ever is not worth a confrontation with someone now days. (right or wrong) But it sure is not good manners of a sportsman to move another mans fish attractors. And it sure isn't worth getting killed over. I knew a old commercial fisherman that carried a pistol with him all the time. I truly believe that old man would shoot you died messing with his tackle. A person now days just never knows what kind of character you will meet out there.

I have known people that would not put out or help put out fish habitat. They would ride around the lake and use binoculars to watch others to see where they fished and then go there and if they caught fish they would camp there. In the old days there was no way to find fish so if you were a crappie fisherman you made your honey holes each and every year. With the new side scan sonars I am afraid less people will place habitat as it is easy for them to just find others and fish theirs. It is getting to be less and less respect for others on our lakes also. People don't care anymore they will speed by when you are fishing and they don't care how close they come to you either. I drop habitat every year as I have done for many years now and don't mind others using it as the lake is everyones but I would not be very happy if I knew someone moved it.
Be safe and good luck fishing
