I learned that crappie fillets are very expensive after fishing Poinsett Lake some years ago among other lakes and rivers up here in NEA!

I feel your pain....but try 56 boats on a 180 acre lake!! That is what it was like over here last Saturday. Unfortunately this lake is on its way down as well....exactly the same scenario as you talked about with only small fish at one time for many years and then the lake got right and the size started to get much better. And that's when the armada started rolling in. Several days last two years there were 50+ boats on the lake and there is a 30 fish/no length limit. People were driving from as far as Mississippi because the word got out about the fishing....gotta love the internet!!And during the week you can bet there will be 25+ boats out there everyday as well. I ran into a guy at the ramp one day I took off from work and he looked at the parking lot and said "does anyone in this town work?" Its only 4 miles from my house so its too convenient not to go, but I feel like I will have to change locations within a year or so if I want to catch fish. I actually talked to the area biologist with the Missouri Conservation and he said they are seeing a decline and a limit decrease may be necessary. I would be all for it and hope they can do it sooner than later. Too many guys going out and catching more than a limit each day and very few days conservation agents were around to catch them.

@bluesraider. I was thinking about coming up there and fishing. Maybe we can switch spots one day and still get to fuss about the same stuff
Yours and our area is really hurting for fishing holes. People can't spread out. With some places being really seasonal and dependant on water situations, it makes things even worse. When the water does get right, the access is poor. It has gotten so bad, I'm thinking about joining the country club and taking up golf. I hear they have little lakes all over their property that just may have a fish in them. I figure a guy could slip a 10ft BnM down in one of those bags they carry around.

We were there last Saturday and didn't catch a fish, but we were also late to the party. it did give me a chance to get the boat out and check everything over though. Sitting here today contemplating new electronics as it snows like crazy on March 28th! gotta love Arkansas weather. Good luck to everyone, hopefully it'll heat up soon up here. I've talked to a couple folks fishing a few other lakes up here and they haven't done much either, maybe this next week with 70s & 80s will get them going.
Come on up anytime!! With a couple days notice I can usually "slip" out of the office. If its a weekend and nice weather we will just have to make sure we put the bumper pads on the boat....I have felt like a NASCAR driver swapping paint out there at times but hey, thats why they call it fishing....wait, maybe thats a different saying I am thinking about!!![]()
