I would also upgrdad the 859 to the DI Wide transducer Humminbird | XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T
It is designed for the trolling motor and has the 83/200 2D which will give you better 2D coverage area.
If you add the wide DI to the 859 will the 83khz even work since the unit only drives the standard transducer at 200/455khz 2d? Is there a transducer selection on that unit that includes the 83khz?

Yes ... There is a "Transducer Select" menu choice for DI 200kHz/83kHz in the 859 DI, 959 DI, 1159 DI models ...

(The DI 200kHz/83kHz selection was also added to the 858 DI, 958 DI, 1158 DI in a previous software version) ...

Yes it uses the 200/83 ..... I don't have that unit, so I don't know what the menu selection is .... I bet Rickie will know

Just sent out the transducer yesterday for an exchange on the stock 899 transducer. Cost $85 for the upgrade.

I called the dealership today and ordered both transducers. Boat is scheduled to be built 4/24 and then get rigged, so I should be out in front of the electronics.

    Thanks everyone!!
