Default Going to Spring for New H'birds....

and need some advice regarding transducers. I'm ordering an 899 ci HD SI for the console and an 859 ci HD DI for the bow. Do I need to exchange the transducers for something better? I've been reading that there is an HD upgrade available, but I can't find any reference online in accessories.

    PM HBgreg for the lowdown.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Well I read the thread about one H'bird/2 locations and read this:

Parratt, I have the 899 and love it! I bought the model with the standard transducer (I think they all come with the standard) and then I bought the HD transducer for the unit. This way I have two transducers and I put the HD ducer on the stern and one on the bow on my Motorguide TM. Since I do all my scanning while at the yoke I use the HD to my advantage and then when I locate a pile I drop the TM and unplug the unit from the back an move it up front and plug it into a separate set of power and ducer cables. (bought the extra power cable as well for the unit to move up front).
Most people buy the 899 and send in the non HD ducer and exchange it for the HD for a fee of about $90. But to buy the HD out right was only $100 more than just exchanging it so I opted to buy.
Once I get my next unit I may get another 899 or compatible one with the ducer I already have or get another HD ducer. I will wait to see.
Yes it is a lot of work sometimes (you have to get two mounts as well which adds up) but I figure I can handle this until I find some money somewhere!
    Hope this helps.

I'm hoping Humminbird-Greg will pop in here with some answers....and here's another question: Will my Lakemaster card work in the new units?

The 899 comes stock with the XNT 9 SI 180 T ...which is 455kHz only ...

Upgrading to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T will add the 800kHz SI frequency availability ...
    ------

The 859 DI comes stock with the XNT 9 DI T ... (Transom mount) ...
    Which is 200kHz 25° /455kHz 16° 2d cone beams and 455kHz 75° /800kHz 45° DI fan beams ...

It can be traded for the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T ... (TM mount) ...
    Which is 83kHz 60° /200kHz 20° 2d cone beams and 455kHz 75° /800kHz 45° DI fan beams ...

Some like the narrower 2d cone beams in the XNT 9 DI T for better 2d target separation ...
Some like the wide 2d cone beams of the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T for more bottom coverage ...

Yes .... The Lakemaster card will work.

I would upgrade the 899 to the HDSI transducer....That will give you 800 Khz capabilities and the 455 Khz scans will be sharper than the stock 899 transducer.

I would also upgrdad the 859 to the DI Wide transducer Humminbird | XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T
It is designed for the trolling motor and has the 83/200 2D which will give you better 2D coverage area.

    OOPS ... Rickie typed faster.....

Yes...except for Helix which takes the micro SD Card size mapping card ...

I think the new LakeMaster card version will be micro SD Card (with SD Card adapter) ...
