Default Okie lookin for info on Lake Chicot

    • Thinking about taking a trip to Lake Chicot in October '15. Don't know a thing about this lake and wonder if anyone could help me out? I fish only for crappie out of an 18' Lund Crappie Edition. Plan on being there around Oct 15th or so for a couple of days. Actually heading that way to attend a get together put on by the Bayou Gardner on the 17th but, figure what the hey, might see if there are any slabs in the nearby lake! Any great Cajun eating places would be great too, love mudbugs and anything Cajun!

Hey Bob, I hope I get to see you at the Bayou Grardener gathering. I missed out on the last one because it was the same week end that we had the CDC gathing at Lake D'Arbonne and I had already committed. Did you go to the one last year. I've been to several at Donald's farm and it's always a great time.

I can't help you with the lake as I've never fished there but from what I hear on line it's a hard lake to fish. Maybe someone with better knowledge will step up with some good info.

Perhaps we can meet down the road,

Redge, the Bayou Gardener is a forum for back yard gardener and a few larger scale farmers and greenhouse owners. It is as friendly as CDC with some very nice people over there helping one another. I've been a member for a number of years and have learned a lot from the members and I share what I know. If you like growing things to eat it the place to be. Come on over.

Hi Gene, thanks for the kind response. Actually, I just found the Bayou Gardner a couple of weeks ago. Watched his videos and loved what I saw. I have 25 acres near Ardmore, OK and just moved there last September. I've never had this much room to plant a garden this size so the videos gave me some great ideas. I have a tractor that will be perfect but, lack a few attachments to duplicate what Donald does. I'm envious you got to visit his farm!
Being retired, I hope to have time to attend the get together in LA in October but, definately can't say for sure yet. But, if I do, maybe you and I and MO Slab could make it a fishing trip as well?
By the way MO, why would you move from Lafayette? I always loved that area! Heck, I should have been a Cajun, I love seafood and mudbugs! And, of course crappie!
Redge, do you garden? Or just spend all day everyday catching slab crappie?

I'd love to share a boat with you and MO if it works out. I'm about 3 hours out from there but never too far to attend a gardeners forum gathering or a fishing trip.

I believe it was Dapet that was always posting about Chicot. If he doesn't pop in soon, you may be able to send him a message so he'll know there's a thread when he gets on next time.

Mudbugs are in season now, and will pretty much over by end of May. Might want to make a trip down for some while you can. lol

Don't know much about gardening, and even less about Chicot myself, but the gathering PPG was talking about at Lake D'arbonne is going to be the second Friday in November going forward. Great group, so hopefully we'll see you there.

    Good luck out there Bob!

    Scott
