Good. He musta edited it. Said 50 rpm last week. I can live with that. That is prob no load speed too. This eliminates gear reduction.

I calculated the speed at 18 rpm to be .3 fps. I have an 1 1/2 inch center spool diameter weed eater string holder. Multiply the diameter of THE SPOOL (1.5) x pii = 4.71 inches circumference of spool. This is the inches per second wind up. I have to wind about 2 feet of line to retract the trolling motor. So retraction will take about 5 seconds. Sounds bout rite. I miss PANMAN. He always checked my math.

You guys didn't check my math. 4.71 is distance traveled in 1 revolution (not per second). I forgot to multiply this number 4.71 (circumference of spool) by the rps (.3) to get the distance traveled per second. So the real lift time would be 1.4 inches per second. Somewhat slow. I can speed it up with a bigger diameter spool or use 24v. No problem.

Thinking out loud. I miss the Virginian. I am getting obsolete.

Looks like one to me. I really know nothing about the product, but figured Gene would pick it up and run with it.

That makes sense with the thinner profile. On one of the pictures of the product, it showed a round motor similar to a windshield wiper motor. I'm guessing the weight of the trolling motor lowers it, when you hit the down switch. Do you think there's a micro switch that stops the motor at the bottom so it doesn't just unravel cable, or there's only enough cable to reach the bottom?

I am not sure, but it leaves some slack in the cable so to steer.

Funny how you brought this up when I was working on one. Glad you did though. Gave me a few more ideas. I ain't gonna spend no 400 dollar though. Mine will made of scrap parts for the most of it.
