    Default Rf Interferance

I am getting some rf interferance on side imaging when operating my trolling motor. I have grounded my trolling motor to my negative side of the starting battery. With not much help. I have done a bunch of research on this issue. Humminbird is going to send me something to install on he trolling motor. Anybody have any solutions?

I found these on Ebay. It's 16lbs of various styles of ferrite chokes. I think I'm going to start at one end of the boat wrapping power cables, trolling motor cables and transducer cables until the rf interferance goes away. Does anybody think it will work?

I think the last thing you try will fix it

HB will send you ferrite chokes that are designed to combat RFI at the frequencies of their own proprietary xducer functions ...
    ----------
    ----------

First you need to determine if the RFI is migrating into the power supply or the xducer cable ...

This can be diagnosed by removing the xducer from the TM completely and testing the xducer in the water away from the TM ...

If the interference goes away ... The RFI is getting into the xducer or its cable ...
If the interference is still present ... the RFI is getting into the power supply ...

Do you have on board charger that charges both cranking and trolling batteries? If so, try unhooking it from crank battery (whatever battery electronics are on) and see if you still have it. Had a buddy with same issues and the charger was point of entry for the rf. Just a thought!...............
