    The new card just came out version 3.0 the big 4 are on it in HD.

    Yes you should still be able to save waypoints even without any kind of mapping card. It will just show up on pretty much of a blank screen. the only thing that will be on the screen is they waypoint you just created, and your boat icon, which will tell you where you are in relation to the waypoint. If you have gone a ways since ur last waypoint and your boat icon is NOT on the screen, then you may have to zoom out.
