I can't help with the lakes you are fishing but wanted to welcome you aboard and tell you to keep up the good work with your son. The time invested teaching him fishing and the outdoors will be greatly rewarded. He will love you forever for it.

"Thanks for the warm welcome! I live in Lafayette, Louisiana and I mostly fish in Henderson, Lake Fausse Pointe, and Bayou Benoit. I'm new to sac-a-lait (crappie) fishing. My father-in-law has a camp at Saline lake and that's what started my addiction with sac-a-lait. My five year old son is my fishing partner and we go as much as we can. I'm Looking for some pointers on Henderson or the basin ifpossible. Thanks again."

Welcome from Eastern Arkansas.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Welcome to the board, I have a 6 year old son and have been wondering what age I can start taking him out. I don't have much boat experience so it makes me kind of nervous but I think I need to go ahead and make the jump.
lafayettefisherman......by all means, put a pole in that boy's hand.....he will never forget it......we have a lot of CDC guys in your area.....you will see their comments on Henderson often.....I fish there a lot.....seems to be slow for me now but it will get better....looking forward to your posts....be sure to come to the Henderson get together on 3/28 and if you can, Toledo Bend on 2/27-28.....

Welcome to the forum. They are never too young. I have mine reeling in fish at age two. By age 4 they were casting. By age 6 pulling jugs in the boat. I did it alone with 3 at a time....lol. Remember patience on your part. Practice untangling them.....lol. Learn to laugh. Thanks for posting it brought back some fine memories.
Look in the 3rd picture my youngest at 4 has a pole in his hand. And don't forget buy lots of line, corks and hooks. If there is a snag they will find it.
I can't help with the lakes in that part of the world either, but wanted to chime in and welcome you to the Louisiana board. There are some fine folks on here, many of them in your area. I'm sure they will chime in soon. Or, you may want to do a search of some of the older posts concerning that area. Just a thought.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
