I would like to put a big Thanks out to Darrell Street and his wife for the wonderful hospitality to complete strangers, It was awesome and much appreciated!!!!! Meeting so many new faces and sharing story's priceless!
My story started out with a conversation with Robert Robinson (WSD), who I met on CDC last spring, the Friday evening before Christmas he says why don't ya just drive down and meet Doug Owen and I at the ramp in the morning, don't bring anything but your rods. Pretty hard to pass that up, had a great time!
Weather forecast looked good for tournament weekend and youngest son was out of school on Monday so I figured he could miss Friday for a 4 day trip. Came down with plans to fish KAW for fun only on Friday and Saturday, then head to Wister to fish with WSD on Sunday, Monday. Parker my youngest after the wonderful Friday evening at Darrell's starts talking about the tournament, I don't do tournaments usually as I feel you have to do your best in all aspects to compete, and that turns into work. Well about 7 am at the checkin he talked me into it, did not even have jigs on most of our rods. Went out and just fished for fun, got lucky and caught some of the best fish we had caught in the three previous days I had fished there. Parker was pretty proud of having the big fish and a respectable stringer of fish! Congrats to all that fished the tournament, it was great to meet you all!!! If any of you ever get the itch to fish Truman Lake which is my home lake I would be delighted to take you, help you or what ever I can to make your stay a pleasure! I only get to fish mid October through April due to work, so if you ever want to come up just holler! Thanks Again! Mark Davis 816 830-1710
