Marking HB waypoints?

GeneC is on the water now trying to mark waypoints on a 859DI. If he is on a GPS screen, he can move the cursor over and mark a waypoint. If he is on a sonar screen and moves the cursor over to mark a waypoint, it says, " waypoint already exists". If he doesn't stop the sonar with the cursor, and just hits "mark" it works fine.

Seems to be a software thing.. My 959di does the exact same thing!! However there is a new update out and I am hoping it fixes the issue !

I installed the same depth finder. It does the same thing I just thought I was doing something wrong. Hope someone figures this out and let's us all know how to fix it.

This issue doesn't sound familiar to me ...

I've heard of an issue when the Screenshot is turned on with no SD Card in the unit will cause a "no waypoint saved" issue ...

But I seem to remember the popup in this scenario says something like "PNG successfully saved" ... But no waypoint was actually saved ...

Gene converted Lowrance wayoints over to the H/B format, then loaded them in the 859. I'm curious if something didn't go right with the transfer. I suggested that he delete all the waypoints and then try to mark a brushpile. He's on the lake fishing till this afternoon, and has no back up for the waypoints. So he doesn't want to delete them at this time. Before he leaves the water today, I asked him to try the delete and see what happens. Mean while I think I'll call H/B customer service.

My 959 DI had only a few waypoints added to it. All original HB waypoints. I have successfully added waypoints, but some settings seem to make it start having the errors. Rickie I definitely have my snapshots on and a card in.

OK GUYS,I DELEATED ALL WP,HERE IS WHAT IT IS DOING,IF I HAVE UNIT ON 2D OR DI AND MOVE CURSOR TO CREATE A WP ,IF I HAVE DELEATED ALL WP IT WILL ACCEPT THE FIRST WP,THEN IF I TRY TO MAKE A SECOND WP AT ANOTHER SPOT,IT WILL COME UP THAT WP ALREADY EXIST,NOW IF ON GPS SIDE AND HIT MARK IT WILL PUT WP IN AND CAN DO IT OVER AND OVER, BUT THAT NO HELP FOR I MUST GET RIGHT OVER SPOT THEN HIT MARK, I SHOULD HAVE TRIED TO DEFAULT IT AND TRY IT,FORGOT TO BUT WILL TRY IN A FEW DAYS

Check the GPS diagnostic page to see what the EPE and fix are showing ...

The only time my 1197 will popup "waypoint already exists in this location" is if this second waypoint's coordinates are within the EPE (estimated position error) of the other waypoint ...

For example ... If my EPE is showing 10ft and I try to create a waypoint within 10ft of another waypoint's coordinates ... The unit doesn't know (with enough certainty) that this new location actually has different coordinates ...
