    Default Salvaging Rusted Jig Heads

What can you do to remove surface rust from jig heads that have sat in a moist environment for to long? Has anyone ever tried soaking them in CLR (calcium, lime, rust remover)? Would some thing like this be too corrosive and eat the paint off if jig heads? Any and all good and proven ideas welcome. I hate to throw away money. Thanks.

I've never had the jig heads rust, but the hooks will rust. If the hooks are rusted I will throw them away and try a different way to store them. I wonder what kind of jig heads you are using that will rust ???

I'm talking about the hook on the jig head. I just hate to toss a bunch a money in the trash.

You can heat the lead and reuse it if you pour your own heads.

Next time buy black crome hooks !!!! Bronze hooks are the easiest to rust u can't hardly stop them from rusting . They have to be kept in a air tight location! !!! We do not use bronze hooks in our jigs or minner critters because of them rusting so easy !!!! We only use black or red crome they are a little more expensive but we'll worth it !!!!

Thanks for the suggestions on keeping hooks from rusting. Any suggestion on removing the rust? Guess I will do some experimenting.
