There is a forum called Bass Boat Central. If you are not a member I would advise you to join and post your issues on the appropriate Mercury forum.

There is a man, Don Weed, that will help with your motor. Be sure to put motor serial number on first post. Follow his advice to the letter, do not skip anything.

Appreciate that speck finder. I'm going to try the weed eater line back through the miter to check for a clog there n fire it up to see if it ores. If it doesn't, I'll just pop another impeller in it. Pretty simple takes30-45 minutes to change impellers is all.

Revving the motor with no load is not only bad on the motor internals......... The water pump cannot get enough of water to keep the impeller cool, the friction and lack of water flow causes heat.......... this heat destroys impeller........

Do as was mentioned and check the housing and base plate for scoring, if any present replace all............ or you are just throwing money away changing just the impeller...............

Thanks for the info. Been doing it for 9 years now and not a single problem, I'll run in for 45 minutes after my salt water trips to flush it real good. I don't rev it wide open, just 1/2 way is all. I got it running. Had a price of trash in the intake. Did what G said with the weed eater line and when I tested it, a piece if trash came out. Just left Barnett and it's running 100% better. Hit the Bay in a 3/4 mile stretch and would goose it, then run WOT to the other end, than back. Did that bout 8-9 times then went across the lake n Barack. Had a mix of a can if seafoam with 10 gallons of gas. That and a whole can if carb cleaner plus new plugs did the trick. Should be good to go now.

Good deal. Glad you got it figured out. Funny how a plug or two can be bad and not look it and how much difference it will make. Now go catch some fish.
