    Default Tying with feathers?

After using the tip of a feather, how do you use the rest of the feather. I know some say to "cut a V". What does that mean?

Any videos on tying with feathers?

Don just so happens I made a very short video on how I cut my feathers, but I didn't say it it is i even keep the butt end after I cut it up and o do this because I can actually ip use a couple of the butts to make another tail that has no tip on it. It would look much like the Slab Daddy Jgs if someone just used the left over for a tail! This video is one I made like 4 years ago or more!MOV04332 mpeg2video - YouTube

Should have said this in above. Don you should see how many V's I have after tying tails like this for the last 10 years. I am probably the one responsible for naming them little V's because I needed a way to describe it and they loom like a V.

OK, I see how you cut the "V" but where & how do you use the "V"?

When I am ready to tie in the tail, I take on tip and stack 2 or more V's on top. Then I pick them up I. Left hand and make ends even, then I pinch them with my right hand to hold and then I use my left hand to pinch them together from the side and hold in place to tie in. You have to have the tail a little on the side to you so when wrapping the thread it will roll over a little and hope it stops right on top, but if not once the wrapping has got as far back to the hook bend as your going its time to place it were it needs to be. Them pinch hook and thread tight and warp back to the head. It will not move any more!

You mentioned you stack a couple of V's on top of a tip, why not put V's on the bottom of the stack also?

You can do it how ever you want to, that is just my way and I like the looks a lot the way I do mine. Now I actually put 3 V's on top and for me it's easier to control it all. If you want your jigs to look the best they can you better be able to control that stuff with you pinch. This way of tying tails was just what I cam up with for my tying as I didn't like using two tips as some did or other way. It's just my way and you for sure can do your on way too!

Also please don't post on thread like this that are this old (3 years ago) and if you have a question just ask it in a post you start. I will close this thread to new post now.

    Thanks,
