Thanks for the info on sherrys, always stopped there for bait, the owner Gary and his wife always treated us good. Anyone know if they still own it

Yeah it's still the same owners. I was surprised to see them closed this early. I thought they usually stayed open into November or December.
There's a drive-through on SR125 near SR 132south that sells bait but I don't think they open early. I'm going to check them out and if I find something out, I'll post it here.

We have stopped at that drive thru a couple of times, I never cared for it because if memory serves me, their prices were kinda high, and parking was rough sometimes

I've never been there myself but with Sherry's closed I was just trying to let people know there is an option on the south side of the lake.
Personally I tend to not use minnow as much in the winter. I don't like sticking my hand in that bucket when it's cold outside.

Was on EF 10/18. Caught well over 100 fish. Had many over 9". Had several over 10 and a couple 11s. Was windy, but fished protected banks. Found fish from 4 to 15 feet. Tubes mostly.

Tom513, water temp was between 63-64.5. Fish appeared to be trying to make a false spawn. Making there way from deep to shallow depending on time of day. Best fishing was later in the day. We were limited to the areas we could fish due to the wind, but had a good day. A normal day for us at EF. Overall, EF is very good right now. Turnover is in progress, so there will be a period of poor fishing soon. Just depends on the weather.

Thanks for the info, sounds like the water is warmer then the waters I've been fishing lately. My luck I will get back out there during the turnover! This is My first year with a decent boat, worth hauling to bigger lakes, I missed the Spring bite at EF, and know a couple guys who have fished EF there entire lives so I get good advise when I need it, but I tell ya I've fished there 3 times this year, last time was the begging of Sept. when the algae was going away and had 3 days of not catching much at all, actually caught more channels then Crappie, but they all smelt like tar, I've tryed recommended jigs, minnows under a bobber and last time spider rigged minnows but still not worth the trip there. Maybe its Me but so far I am not impressed with EF.

Last year, this time of year was the best time for me at EF. From Mid-October to Mid-December. If you remember, it stayed warm last year until early January when it got really cold. Depends on the day obviously, but most every time I went, I stayed within 100 yards of the shore but right near the main channel and trolled with 2 ultra-lights in each hand, a double-minnow rig on each pole - and did great. Caught 2 at a time on many occasion. The depth varied since I guess it was after the lake turnover but some depths produced better than others once you found it. I'm hoping to get out next weekend to try again. I think they're just out there fattening up on shad this time of year so trolling worked better than anything else for me anyways.

All you EF junkies, here's a link to a survey about the park. How about everyone fill it in and complain about the docks being pulled so early.
I'm normally not a guy to call and complain about this stuff but taking the docks out this early in the season is a joke. The won't be any ice on EF until late December at the earliest. This is going to make it super tough on the guys with glass boat and it just a pain for the guys with tin boats.. Like mbk said it's a good time to be on the water. The water temp is still in the mid 60's, at least wait until it gets down in the low 40's.
