Welcome to the board Chuck. I know there have been a few people on here posting about Henderson...might try a search for it and find their reports that way. They were having pretty good luck if I recall.
Enjoy the time with your kids.![]()

I hadn't fished in over 30 years but recently purchased a boat. I haven't missed a weekend fishing in the last three months since getting the boat and find myself wondering why I didn't do it sooner. Haven't been extremely successful on my trips though, guess I lost the tricks and techniques! None the less I have a rare opportunity to take both of my daughters fishing next weekend. They are both grown now and with college and work it is extremely rare that they are both free on the same day and wanting to go fishing with me on the same trip. I know that even if we don't catch that we will have a blast together but boy would it be so much sweeter if I can put them on some fish. So my question is, has anyone had much luck with sacalait (crappie) and brim anywhere near or around Henderson, LA? Since I haven't fished in so long I am not familiar with many areas to fish and with Henderson Lake five minutes from home but drawn down right now that takes away a great location real close to home. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I don't fish LA but I can wish you and the girls good luck. Also try some Berkley Crappie Nibbles and tip your jigs with them.
Wishing you Blue Skies and Tight Lines
Hey Chuck.....welcome to the best family fishing forum on the web.....sounds like you and your daughters are hooked on fishing.....lots of guys here are more than willing to help with any questions you have on that.....I have fished Henderson a lot the last 4 years but not in the last 6 weeks....I understand that the Basin Landing on the south end is open if you have a smaller boat, like an aluminum flat.....there are fish there, but you just have to find them.....stick to the main channels while it is low.....next spring be prepared for a treat....
again....welcome....

A lot of folks down that way dont have Depth findersbut they are really a nice tool to locate structure and not getting into water that is to shallow. Have fun and keep a eye out for Wasp Nests in the trees.![]()
Haw- Haw- Haw!!! big Sticks are not allowed in our Boat ... Bro would be using it on me because he says the fish wont bite for him
Thank you everyone. I have this weekend to do some "scouting". It's a tough job but someones gotta do it!
