Skip have you ever made a video of your hackle jigs. l would like to see how you tie yours. I have to slow down a lot to get them right . I can really crank out Marabou but getting the hackle straight takes me longer. Would like to see a pro. Do it
I did make a little video to see how my camera would take a video, but it was just a trial effort and didn't explain anything. I will give you a link here to see, but I do hope to do another one that has more description with it. However this is it for right now......

also know this, when I pick up my feathers they are stacked like I want them. Then pinching tight and holding really close to your hand pinch is important, plus once you wrap the hackle in the first direction and before you wrap back to the head is the time to adjust it and hold tight again when wrapping back to keep it like you want it. Now I have to admit not often to I need to adjust now after 10 years of tying like I do, but I use to most every time and there are times I will have to take it back off and re-do it again.
Thanks skip . That's what I was wanting to see. I do it the same way I'm just not as good as you guess I need more time on the vice lol. Wow that's fast.
LOL, Thanks! I cut all the feathers I need before I start tying. I keep the tips separate and only want enough to do what I need and the little V's build up over time and I have a lot of them ready. I keep some amount of hackle in a zip lock for each color and I keep new strung hackle in there as well as the V's and scraps or what's left after cutting the feather up. I lee the butt end of the feather because if I ever want to I can make a tail out of that too, but mostly I just keep them stored in zip locks and when it's full I just get a new zip lock and put the full bag of scraps in a cabinet for use later if needed. I only throw away what is really garbage as most can be used in some way later.
Once you tie 100 to 120 jigs a day for a few months your tying hackle will get better and after years it will still improve.
